The LUMOS Bird Feeder from Stalen Design is a stylish pole model with a gabled roof, also known as a feeding station, feeding table, or bird feeding spot. Thanks to its elongated shape, this bird feeder is not only a sheltered spot for birds but also an elegant focal point in your garden. The roof also ensures a dry and protected feeding spot.

This bird feeder is made of 1.5 mm thick Corten steel, which develops a natural rust patina over time. This protective layer makes the birdhouse weather-resistant, low-maintenance, and gives it a warm, natural look that blends perfectly into any outdoor space. Designed and produced in the Netherlands – pure Dutch Design.

The feeder should be mounted on a wooden post (post not included). Recommendation: use a post with a diameter of 6–8 cm. You can easily attach the feeder using the 3 included stainless steel screws. The roof can be unscrewed, making assembly quick and practical. Ideal for use in the garden or yard.

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
