The UPSILON Birdhouse from Stalen Design is a sleekly designed wall-mounted birdhouse, also known as a bird house, bird feeder, nesting box, or bird shelter. This design object offers a safe and stylish resting place for garden birds and is equipped with a wooden perch for extra convenience.

Made from 1 mm thick Corten steel, a natural layer of rust forms over time, protecting the house against the elements. This characteristic patina gives the birdhouse a warm, robust appearance that blends seamlessly into natural or modern environments.

The UPSILON model is easy to mount on a wall thanks to the included stainless steel screws and plugs. Choose a spot in the shade carefully – mounting in direct sunlight is discouraged to prevent the birdhouse from overheating. Ideal for use on facades, fences, or balcony walls.

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
