This Corten steel heron is entirely designed and produced in the Netherlands, with an eye for detail and durability.

The HERON is made of 3 mm thick Corten steel, a low-maintenance and weather-resistant material that develops a beautiful, warm rust-colored patina through oxidation. This makes every piece unique and highly suitable for long-term outdoor use. The heron's slender shape adds a subtle, natural aesthetic to your outdoor space.

The garden stake is designed to be pressed directly into the ground. Including the ground spikes, the total height is 72.5 cm, with 52.5 cm protruding above ground. This makes the HERON perfectly visible as an eye-catcher by a pond, in a flower border, or at the edge of a lawn.

CORTEN STEEL

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
