DUOKAT Garden Stake by Stalen Design is a decorative garden stake and cat garden shape, also known as a garden spike, garden figure, corten steel garden sculpture, garden ornament, plant stake, and metal garden decoration. This set combines the SFINX Garden Stake and LYNX Garden Stake: a sitting cat seen from the front and a walking cat with a playfully raised tail.

Both cats are made of 3 mm thick Corten steel. When placed outdoors, this material develops a natural rust patina that protects the steel from the elements. The warm layer of rust gives the cats a characterful appearance and makes each piece unique.

The sitting cat is 35 cm high and 23 cm wide. The walking cat is 46 cm wide and 39 cm high. Both garden stakes feature visible whiskers and are easy to place in a border, lawn, planter, front garden, or on a patio. Designed and produced in the Netherlands – pure Dutch Design.

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
