BEEBOX bee hotel by Stalen Design is a wall-mounted bee hotel and designer insect hotel, also known as a bee house, bee box, bee block, insect house, wall bee hotel, and nesting aid for wild bees. The Corten steel wall bracket with an integrated oak bee hotel offers solitary bees a sheltered nesting spot while serving as a sleek design element for a facade, fence, or garden wall.

The bee hotel is made of Corten steel and features a solid oak block measuring 120 x 120 x 270 mm. This oak block contains bee holes in various diameters of 10, 8, and 6 mm. When placed outdoors, Corten steel develops a natural rust patina that protects the steel against weather conditions and provides a warm, natural appearance.

The BEEBOX bee hotel has a height of 30 cm, a width of 17 cm, and a depth of 14 cm. You can easily mount the bee hotel to a wall, for instance on a facade, fence, garden wall, canopy, or in a green outdoor space. Designed and produced in the Netherlands – pure Dutch Design.

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
