Garden shape POKAM by Stalen Design is an impressive, large garden decoration in the shape of a butterfly. This stylish outdoor wall decoration, also known as a garden ornament, wall figure or decorative object for the garden, is entirely designed and manufactured in the Netherlands.

The design is crafted from 1.5 mm thick Corten steel, a durable material that develops a characteristic rust-colored patina over time. This protects the product from the elements while providing a warm, natural appearance. The butterfly measures approximately 25 x 31 cm and comes with stainless steel nails for secure attachment to a wall, fence, or garden shed.

A unique feature of this design is that the wings can be slightly bent to your desired position. This gives the object a subtle three-dimensional effect. Please note: only bend the material once into the desired position to prevent metal fatigue.

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
