Flowerpot DUO by Stalen Design is a weathering steel flowerpot and plant holder for outdoors, also known as a planter, plant pot, flower box, outdoor pot, pot holder, and patio flowerpot. This compact design element is made for two terracotta pots and gives plants, herbs, or small flowers a permanent place in the garden, on the patio, or on the balcony.

The holder is made of 1.5 mm thick Corten steel. When placed outdoors, this steel develops a natural rust patina that protects the material against weather influences. The warm rust color complements the terracotta pots beautifully, creating a calm, natural look.

The DUO Flower Pot is supplied with two terracotta pots. With a width of 270 mm, a height of 30 mm, and a depth of 135 mm, this is a subtle plant holder. The flower pot holder is designed to be mounted against a wall or fence. Designed and produced in the Netherlands – pure Dutch Design.

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
