The HIVE climbing plant trellis by Stalen Design is a graphic climbing plant trellis for outdoors, also known as a climbing frame, plant rack, climbing plant rack, wall rack for climbing plants, plant support, plant prop, growth panel, wall decoration, and wall panel. The hexagon motif gives this design element a sleek, modern look against a facade, garden wall, or fence.

This climbing plant trellis is made of 2 mm Corten steel and automatically develops a warm rust patina outdoors. This natural rust layer protects the steel, makes it weather-resistant, and gives the wall panel a robust look that combines beautifully with greenery.

The wall model has a width of 374 mm and a height of 672 mm. The 11 hexagons provide space for climbing plants to grow through, so the panel gradually becomes part of the greenery. Designed and produced in the Netherlands – pure Dutch Design.

CORTEN STEEL

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
