HEXON climbing plant trellis by Stalen Design is a corten steel climbing plant trellis and designer wall panel for outdoor use, also known as a plant rack, climbing aid, climbing frame, climbing plant trellis, trellis, vine rack, plant support, and wall rack for climbing plants. The hexagon motif gives climbing plants room to grow through the design and turns a facade, fence, or garden wall into a stylish green wall.

This climbing plant trellis is made of 2 mm thick Corten steel. The material will rust outdoors, forming a natural rust patina that protects the steel against weather conditions. The warm rust color complements green leaves, flowering climbing plants, and natural garden materials.

The HEXON climbing plant trellis features 17 hexagons for climbing plants to grow through. You can use it as wall decor, a garden panel, or a climbing aid for outdoors. Designed and produced in the Netherlands – pure Dutch Design.

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
