NIDO bird feeder: a modern bird feeder on a pole

A bird feeder does not just have to be practical. It can also become part of your garden's design. With the NIDO Bird Feeder, we at Stalen Design have designed a feeding spot that combines a recognizable house shape, Corten steel, and an open construction.

The result is a modern bird feeder on a post with a pitched roof and large openings all around. This gives birds easy access to the feed and allows you to watch them from different sides.

Like our other designs, the NIDO Bird Feeder is designed and made in the Netherlands.

A bird feeder with a recognizable house shape

NIDO immediately stands out due to its simple silhouette. The pitched roof gives the bird house the classic shape of a home, while the clean lines and Corten steel provide a modern look.

This makes the feeder suitable for both a modern garden and amidst natural plantings.

The large openings on the sides act like windows. They ensure the bird feed remains easily accessible, but above all, they make it possible to clearly observe the birds when they visit the feeder.

As a result, you don't just have a view of the birds from the front, but from almost all around the entire bird feeder.

Corten steel as part of the garden

The NIDO Bird Feeder is made of Corten steel.

Outdoors, Corten steel develops a characteristic rust-brown patina layer. This gives every bird feeder its own natural appearance over time.

The warm color combines easily with materials and elements often found in the garden, such as:

• wood;
• evergreen plants;
• ornamental grasses;
• natural stone;
• flowers and borders.

This makes NIDO not just a feeder for birds, but also a decorative object for the garden.

A sheltered spot for bird feed

The pitched roof was chosen for more than just its aesthetic appeal.

The roof ensures that the feeding area is partially shielded from rain and other weather influences. This creates a sheltered spot under the roof where bird feed can be offered.

Thanks to the open construction, birds can easily fly in, land, and depart again.

NIDO can therefore be used as a bird feeder, feeding spot, feeding station, bird house with feeding area, or bird table on a post.

Watching birds from all sides

An important part of the design is its openness.

With some bird feeders, a large portion of the bird disappears behind closed side walls. With NIDO, we have intentionally opted for large openings all around the feeding area.

When a bird lands on the feeding platform, it remains clearly visible.

This makes the bird house interesting for a location such as:

• in front of a window;
• by a patio;
• in the middle of a border;
• next to a lawn;
• among lower plants;
• in a spot you have a view of from inside the house.

This way, feeding garden birds simultaneously becomes a fun way to observe the birds in your garden.

NIDO Bird Feeder on a wooden post

NIDO is designed as a post model.

The wooden post on which the bird feeder is placed is deliberately not included. This allows you to choose a matching wooden post that suits your garden and the desired height yourself.

We recommend a sturdy wooden post with a diameter of approximately 6 to 8 centimeters for this purpose.

The NIDO Bird Feeder comes with three stainless steel screws that can be used to attach the feeder to your chosen wooden post.

Please note: the wooden post itself is not included and must be purchased separately.

Easy assembly

The design takes easy installation into account.

The roof of NIDO can be disassembled. This makes the bottom of the bird feeder easily accessible, allowing it to be securely mounted onto the wooden post.

After the base is mounted on the post, the roof can be replaced.

This keeps the attachment neatly integrated into the design and ensures the bird feeding station stands firmly on its post.

Where do you place a bird feeder?

A good location makes the bird feeder more enjoyable to use and makes watching the birds more fun.

Preferably place a feeder in a spot where birds have sufficient overview and where they can easily land. Surrounding plants can also provide a sheltered spot where birds can retreat.

A location at some distance from busy walkways can help birds feel more at ease.

Do you want to regularly enjoy the visitors yourself? Then a spot that is visible from the living room, kitchen, or patio is of course extra interesting.

What bird feed can be used in NIDO?

Various types of bird feed can be offered on the open feeding platform.

Consider, for example:

• scatter feed;
• sunflower seeds;
• seed mixes;
• peanuts suitable for birds;
• other loose feed for garden birds.

By offering different types of feed, you can try to attract various birds to your garden.

Keep the feeding spot clean regularly and remove old or wet feed.
